As the “Road to Omaha” began, the Division 1 college baseball season in New England came to an end.
The 64-team NCAA bracket included four local clubs, with three carrying conference championship banners into the tournament and two claiming one victory on the national stage. However, Saturday’s jubilation turned into Sunday’s heartbreak as both Boston College and Northeastern saw their seasons end one game before the regional final.
Northeastern finished the season as New England’s winningest team, winning an NCAA tournament game for the second straight season. Boston College, meanwhile, turned its best-ever finish in the ACC into a second trip in the last four years.
Rounding out the regional representation, Yale and Holy Cross continued their program ascensions as Ivy League and repeat Patriot League winners, respectively. NEBJ rounds up the regional-round action for all four local clubs.
