Northeastern, Glavine primed to improve on 38-win season

After a 38-win season and narrowly missing its fourth NCAA regional appearance in the last six seasons last spring, Northeastern coach Mike Glavine (Billerica, Mass.) feels good about the state of his program entering the 2025 season.

The Huskies’ strengths of athleticism and strong pitching figure to show through prominently as they have in recent years, and the past fall season — which Glavine considered to be one of the best of his 11th-year head coaching tenure — allowed them to continue building the strong culture that is so important to the program. 

“It’s a great group,” Glavine said. “They care about that culture and our history and our future, they care about each other. It’s been a good start there because that means a lot to us. … We’ve got a good core of returners that we can rely on, we’re mixing in some transfers and some guys that were out last year, and then some freshmen. It’s a pretty good mix.”

As the fall began, though, another theme quickly started to emerge.
