Coming out of a jam-packed week of conference championships, four of New England’s Division 1 teams have earned at least one more weekend of baseball.
Ivy League champion Yale and repeat Patriot League winner Holy Cross were the first two teams nationwide to clinch automatic berths into the NCAA’s 64-team bracket, celebrating their victories by mid-week before watching the rest of “May Madness” unfold.
Come Sunday, Northeastern joined the Bulldogs and Crusaders as conference champions from the region and will hear their names called in Monday’s NCAA Selection Show on ESPN2. The Huskies climbed out of the elimination bracket to win their second straight CAA crown.
Boston College, which was the top-ranked team in New England all spring and still boasts a top-40 RPI, will join the field with an at-large bid out of the ACC.
