Adam Miller Takes Hail Mary Shot at NCAA’s Transfer Portal

At some point, it’s time to move on from college basketball and look for professional opportunities.

Gonzaga Bulldogs graduate shooting guard Adam Miller has entered the NCAA’s transfer portal just hours before it closes, according to The Field of 68.

The 24-year-old has played 152 college basketball games in his career, starting six years ago.

2020-21 – Illinois Fighting Illini

2021-22 – LSU Tigers (didn’t play with a torn ACL in right knee)

2023-24 – Arizona State Sun Devils

2024-25 – Arizona State Sun Devils

2025-26 – Gonzaga Bulldogs

The reason that Miller has given the portal one final shot is because of the potential for a five-in-five ruling from the NCAA before the 2026-27 school year. What that means is that athletes would be given five years to compete in five seasons starting upon high school graduation or their 19th birthday (whichever comes first), replacing the current four seasons in five years model. This would eliminate redshirts and most medical hardships/waivers.

It’s still extremely unlikely that Miller receives yet another year of eligibility since he redshirted in the 2021-22 campaign. Understandable why he would throw his name in the ring with all the money being thrown around across the sport through Name, Image, and Likeness or NIL.
