Who could’ve guessed that the team that averages the most points in college basketball would set a record in the NCAA tournament.
That is exactly what the Alabama Crimson Tide did Thursday night when they set the record for the most three-pointers made in an NCAA tournament game in a 113-88 win over BYU in the Sweet 16 on Thursday.
Mark Sears led the way with 34 points and 10 made threes. The 34 points were his most in a game since Feb. 19 when he scored 35 points against Missouri.
Aden Holloway knocked down six threes and scored 23 points off the bench for the Crimson Tide. Holloway’s 23 points were his most in a game since he scored 25 on Dec. 29 against South Dakota State.
Chris Youngblood was also lights out from three-point range, knocking down five and scoring 19 points.
Sears, Holloway and Youngblood combined for 21 of the 25 made three-pointers for Alabama.
Alabama advanced to the Elite Eight with the win and it is now just one win away from its second consecutive appearance in the Final Four.
