Auburn forward Johni Broome went down with an apparent elbow injury during Sunday’s Elite Eight matchup against Michigan State. Broome, the SEC player of the year, jumped to block a shot attempt of a Michigan State player and came down awkwardly, immediately grabbing his elbow.
Broome, 22, walked off the floor under his own power to the locker room but returned at the 5:29 mark, immediately knocking in a 3-pointer.
Just about everything had gone Auburn and Broome’s way up until that point. Broome’s injury occurred at the 10:37 mark of the second half, with the Tigers clinging to a 50-40 lead and trying to hold off the Spartans to book a trip to the Final Four. Broome exited the game with 22 points and 12 rebounds on 9-of-12 shooting from the field.
Per the CBS broadcast, Broome went to the locker room for X-rays and came back to the game after they were negative.
