The just-retired Bruce Pearl will headline TNT Sports’ new college basketball studio show, along with Jalen Rose and Jamal Mashburn. This move is part of an expansion of the network’s college hoops coverage, which has included the NCAA Men’s Tournament for years.
The new studio programming will be a part of TNT Sports’ expanded regular-season college basketball game coverage of the Big East and Big 12.
Chris Webber, a Naismith Hall of Famer and a former TNT NBA analyst, will return to the network for special events, including the Players Era games during Thanksgiving week. Webber will reunite with former Michigan Fab 5 teammate, Rose.
The program — which does not have a name yet — will be hosted by Adam Lefkoe. Lefkoe, Pearl, Rose and Mashburn are expected to be part of the TNT/CBS coverage of the Men’s Tournament. Pearl, Rose and Mashburn were formerly on the air at ESPN. Pearl will do some regular season game analysis for CBS, as well.
While TNT has been sharing the tournament with CBS for a decade and a half, this is the first season that it will have a full regular-season slate that includes 72 men’s and women’s games combined.
Pearl, 65, stepped down at Auburn last month. His son, Steven, succeeded him. As a college coach, he had a 694-270 (.720) record, including 232-125 (.650) in the last 11 years at Auburn. The Tigers made the Final Four last March.
