Corey Kispert is shut down for the remainder of the season after a successful thumb surgery. The former Zag has been one of the more efficient three-point shooters coming off the bench since entering the league in 2021-22.
The surgical procedure happened earlier today in New York City to repair a ligament tear to Kispert’s left thumb. He suffered the injury against the Denver Nuggets back on March 15th.
The fourth-year wing is expected to make a full recovery and be ready to play at the start of next season.
Kispert finished the 2024-25 campaign with 11.6 points on 45.1 field goal percentage/36.4 three-point percentage/85.2 free throw percentage, 3.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game through 61 games off the bench.
The 6’6, 224-pound guard/forward has career stats of 11.1 points on 47.4 field goal percentage/38.2 three-point percentage/80.5 free throw percentage, 2.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists.
He signed a four-year, $54 million contract extension back in October of 2024. At the start of the 2025-26 season, Kispert will make $13.5 million a year. Since the Zag has been with the Washington organization in 2021-22, the Wizards have an overall record of 100-215.
