What a special experience it was speaking with the former Gonzaga Bulldogs walk-on and 1999-2000 West Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Year, Mike Nilson.
Mike talked about his son, 6-5 wing Carter Nilson from Gonzaga Prep, who is walking on with the upcoming team in the Lilac City, the 1999 Elite Eight run as a No. 10 seed that started it all, coach Mark Few’s Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame induction, and taking care of your body as an athlete.
Nelson spent 20 years as the Director of Performance and Nutrition for the Gonzaga Athletic Department and a leadership coach for the women’s basketball program. He now works as a financial advisor with TEN Capital, as well as hosts “The Compound Commitment” podcast.
