After going 2-0 in the first week, Gonzaga’s sophomore guard Allie Turner and redshirt freshman forward Lauren Whittaker swept the West Coast Conference’s weekly awards.
Turner (17.o points on 65.0 percent from the field and 65.0 percent on three-pointers, 3.5 assists, 2.0 rebounds per game) was named the Player of the Week, and Whittaker (14.5 points on a 75.0 field goal percentage, 7.5 rebounds) was named the Freshman of the Week.
The Zags took down North Dakota State in Fargo, North Dakota, 81-66, and then Toledo in Toledo, Ohio, 72-69 on the season-opening road trip.
The first homestand of the season starts with Colorado State on Thursday, Nov. 13, at 6 p.m. PT and a true non-conference test against three-time national champion Stanford on Sunday, Nov. 16, at 2 p.m. PT. Both games will be on ESPN+.
