Iowa football vs. Indiana expert predictions nationally

The Iowa football team is about to play in its biggest game of the 2025 season on Saturday.

The 12th-ranked Indiana Hoosiers are coming to town riding the momentum of a 63-10 blowout win over a then top-ten ranked Illinois team. This will be a massive test for Kirk Ferentz and the Hawkeyes, and fans will learn a lot about this team by dinner time on Saturday.

Iowa enters the game with an extra day of rest after a 38-28 win over Rutgers last Friday night. The offense had a great night, led by senior quarterback Mark Gronowski and one of the best offensive lines in the country. The defense struggled in the first half, but made big plays in the second half to help secure the victory. With a sold-out crowd expected at Kinnick Stadium, Iowa will need both of those units to play their best game of the season.

And with a big game like this, there are plenty of predictions from numerous national sites. Do these sites think that Indiana will continue its electric start to the 2025 season? Or do they have Iowa pulling the upset at home?

Iowa vs. Indiana expert predictions

College Football News: Indiana 31, Iowa 17. College Football News is picking the Hoosiers to win on the road. Here’s more of what they had to say.

“It’s going to be a fight in Iowa City for about 40 minutes, but the Indiana defense will pick up the slack when the offense isn’t working quite right.Indiana hasn’t beaten Iowa since 2012, and it hasn’t won in Iowa City since 1999. Hoosier head coach Curt Cignetti is good at changing the norms.” -Pete Fiutak

USA TODAY Sports: USA TODAY Sports had six experts pick the biggest college football games of the weekend, including this one. Five of the six experts are rolling with the Hoosiers to pick up the win. Erick Smith was the only one to pick the Hawkeyes.

Bleacher Report: Indiana 27, Iowa 17. Bleacher Report is also picking Indiana to come into Kinnick Stadium and win. Here’s more of what they had to say.

“Iowa seemingly always has that nonsensical win over a visiting ranked opponent. But, uh, I’m not going to pick against Curt Cignetti after the Hoosiers put a stunning smackdown on Illinois last weekend.” -David Kenyon.

CBS Sports: CBS Sports had two experts predict the outcome of this game. Brad Crawford has Indiana winning 31-24, and Chris Hummer has the Hoosiers winning 31-20. They both mentioned questions about Iowa’s offense keeping up with Indiana’s as a reason why they’re picking the Hoosiers.

Pro Football Network: Indiana 40, Iowa 27. Pro Football Network is rolling with the Indiana offense to hang 40 on the Hawkeyes in Kinnick Stadium en route to a win.

The Hawkeyes have their work cut out for them, with almost no one outside of the building believing they can win this game. But that’s exactly where Kirk Ferentz-led Iowa teams have thrived in the past.
