Looking to extend its winning streak to six games, Kent State let a seven-point lead slip away in the last 2:30 of regulation and lost 96-92 in overtime at Miami in Mid-American Conference men’s basketball Friday night.
Jalen Sullinger and Delrecco Gillespie scored 20 points each for the Golden Flashes (18-9, 8-6), who rallied from a 44-41 halftime deficit to lead 79-72 on Davis VonCameron’s 3-pointer with 2:43 to play. Gillespie’s layup with 30 seconds left in overtime gave the Flashes a 92-91 lead, but a 3-pointer by Eian Elmer (17 points) with 21 seconds to go put the RedHawks (20-7, 11-3) back in front 94-92. Mekhi Cooper then made two clinching free throws with seven seconds remaining.
