For the third straight week, forward Lauren Whittaker has been named the top freshman in the West Coast Conference. This time, she shared the honor with San Francisco Dons guard Aina Cargol.
During the 3-1 stretch in the last seven days for the Zags, Whittaker averaged 19.7 points per game on a 55.6 field goal percentage and 10.7 rebounds per game, including two double-doubles.
Among freshmen in the national rankings, Whittaker is second in points per game (19.5) and sixth in rebounds per game (9.9). Her eight double-doubles lead the nation for first-years.
After redshirting in 2024-25, Whittaker has now won six of the nine West Coast Conference Freshman of the Week awards.
Next for coach Lisa Fortier’s group (11-6, 3-1 WCC) is the Portland Pilots (9-7, 3-1 WCC) on Saturday, Jan. 10, inside the McCarthey Athletic Center. Tip-off will take place at 6:00 p.m. PT on ESPN+/SWX.
