The new wave of college basketball will soon hit campuses around the country.

With the departure of players comes fresh faces from the incoming high school class.

The BYU Cougars have a lot to be excited about. They’re welcoming the No. 1 college basketball recruit in the nation, AJ Dybantsa.

Before Dybantsa virtually takes over the Big 12 program, the Cougars received a commitment from Kennard Davis Jr.

Dybantsa shared the news on social media, shouting out Davis to over 502K followers on Instagram.

Davis transferred to BYU after playing two seasons at Southern Illinois. Last season with the Salukis, Davis posted 16.3 points, 4.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game.

During his two-year college basketball career, Davis has recorded 10.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game.

Davis made a major leap forward during the 2024-25 season, capping off the year at Southern Illinois with Second Team All-MVC honors.

Davis will now be playing alongside Dybantsa, who is set to make an immediate impact on the BYU Cougars.

Upon announcing his commitment to the emerging Big 12 powerhouse, Davis shared a message on his decision.

“First, I would like to thank God for the opportunity to play the game I love,” Davis said. “I especially want to thank my family and the supporting fans… It’s been a long journey but I still have a long way to complete my childhood dreams. With that being said, I will be transferring to BYU. Go Cougars.”
