Redshirt freshman forward Lauren Whittaker has now won 11 of the 15 West Coast Conference Freshman of the Week awards in the 2025-26 season. After failing to do so the previous week, she came back to average a double-double with 14.5 points on a 63.2 shooting percentage, 10.0 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game during the 66-56 win at the San Diego Toreros and a 72-63 loss at the Loyola Marymount Lions.
Whittaker’s 13 double-doubles of 2025-26 are the most of any freshman nationally and tied for the 15th-most in all of college basketball. She also leads the West Coast Conference in scoring (19.1 points per game), rebounding (10.1 rebounds per game), and field goal percentage (54.9 shooting percentage).
The Gonzaga Bulldogs (19-8, 11-3 WCC), under coach Lisa Fortier, prepare for the second Eastern Washington battle with the Washington State Cougars (5-22, 4-10 WCC) in the Kennel on Thursday, Feb. 19, at 6:00 p.m. PT on ESPN+/SWX.
The Zags are in a tie for the top of the West Coast Conference standings with the Lions. The 26 turnovers made in Los Angeles won’t cut it against anyone in the league.
