Heading into her sophomore season, 5-9 point guard Paige Lofing has entered her name into the NCAA transfer portal. Hailing from Huntley Project in Billings, Montana, Lofing averaged 2.2 points in 6.4 minutes per 27 contests for the Gonzaga Bulldogs.
She joins 5-9 senior guard Vera Gunyadin as the two Zags in the portal. After starting out her collegiate career with South Georgia Tech junior college from 2022-24, the Ankara, Turkey native appeared in 17 games in her junior year during Gonzaga’s 2024-25 season. Gunyadin then utilized a redshirt in 2025-26 and will now look elsewhere for her final season of eligibility.
Lofing’s stats may not have been eye-popping during her one season in Spokane, Washington, but she had a couple of clutch moments for coach Lisa Fortier. None bigger than her deep three-pointer to send the road matchup against the Oregon State Beavers into overtime on Jan. 22.
The 2025 Montana Gatorade Player of the Year has had some big moments in small spurts off the bench throughout the 2025-26 campaign, especially at the Washington State Cougars on Jan. 31 with a career-high performance. She has the scoring pedigree and leadership qualities at this early point in her college career to succeed wherever she ends up.
The women’s basketball transfer portal opened on Monday, April 6, and after 15 days, it will close on April 20. The Zags have 11 of their 15 available roster/scholarship spots filled at this point in time, with just Lofing, Gunaydin, and senior guard Ines Bettencourt leaving the program. The 2026 recruiting class consists of 6-1 forward Abby Lusk from Pocatello, Idaho.
