The 2026 college basketball transfer portal opened on Tuesday, and Texas A&M coach Bucky McMillan, heading into his second season at the helm, has already lost reserve guard Josh Holloway and Spanish sharpshooter Ruben Dominguez, who could both return, but as of now, McMillan and his staff must find their replacements in the portal.
With senior forward Rashaun Agee leaving after one season, it’s clear the Aggies need more size in the front court, while adding at least one more ball-dominant guard who can take over a game at any time. McMillan’s fast-paced “Bucky Ball” offense and press defense require every player to play with physicality from start to finish, and on Thursday, one of the now available transfer guards with a similar profile has been connected to the Aggies.

One of the bigger guards in the portal, who definitely fits the “ball-dominant” mold, is UNC Asheville sophomore Kameron Taylor, who has reportedly heard from over 20 programs, including Texas A&M, after averaging 18.9 points, 5 rebounds and 3 assists during the 2025 season, who shot 45% from the field, and 28% from beyond the arc.
If Texas A&M has any chance of making it back to the NCAA Tournament for the fifth consecutive season, players like Taylor, who is shooting 45% or better from the field, and possesses the ability to consistently drive the paint and finish at the rim, which was an issue last season,
Taylor scored 20 points or more in 17 games last season, including a season-high 35 points against Charleston Southern.
