There are so many high points in Duke Basketball history that it’s hard to remember everything and easy to forget stuff. Duke hung a banner in Cameron to commemorate Mike Krzyzewski’s 1,000th win, but do you remember when that happened? Who the opponent was? Where that game was?

Assuming you don’t remember the details, the game was on January 25th, it was played in New York City and the opponent was St. John’s.
And it was a classic Duke game in many ways. Duke had to battle back, overcome adversity and show a lot of heart to prevail.
And that’s exactly what Duke did.
Trailing by 10 with 8:15 to play, the Blue Devils went on an 18-2 run, ultimately prevailing, 77-68.
This game was on a Sunday. On the following Wednesday, Duke would announce that Sulaimon had been kicked off the team. Coach K said this: “Rasheed has been unable to consistently live up to the standards required to be a member of our program. It is a privilege to represent Duke University and with that privilege comes the responsibility to conduct oneself in a certain manner. After Rasheed repeatedly struggled to meet the necessary obligations, it became apparent that it was time to dismiss him from the program.”

Krzyzewski would adopt the slogan “Eight is Enough,” Grayson Allen would step up, and Duke would go on to win the national championship in April.
