Iowa State forward Milan Momcilovic, the best 3-point shooter in college basketball this past season, has declared for the NBA Draft and is entering the transfer portal. He instantly becomes one of the most coveted portal prospects for the 2026-27 season as he explores the draft process. The 6-foot-8 21-year-old has one season of college eligibility remaining.

Momcilovic announced his decision Sunday on social media and indicated that he hopes to remain in the 2026 NBA Draft.

“The last three years have been the best of my life, and (Iowa State fans) have been a major part of that,” Momcilovic posted. “It has always been a dream of mine to play in the NBA. At this time, I’m turning my full focus to the NBA Draft, while also entering my name in the Transfer Portal, with the goal of being in the 2026 NBA Draft.”

The Wisconsin native averaged a team-high 16.9 points per game for the Cyclones as a junior this past season, making 48.7 percent of his 3-point shots on 7.5 attempts per game, the best in Division I men’s hoops. His 136 made 3-pointers also topped DI.

Momcilovic helped Iowa State to a 29-8 record in 2025-26, as well as a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament and an appearance in the Sweet 16. The Cyclones lost to Tennessee in the Midwest Regional semifinal without fellow star forward Joshua Jefferson, who was sidelined due to injury.

“Milan and I have had meaningful discussions about his future over the last couple of weeks. He needs to focus on what is best for him and his family,” Iowa State head coach T.J. Otzelberger said Sunday in a statement. “We can’t thank him enough for what he has done for our program. We look forward to following him as he pursues his dream of playing in the NBA.”

Momcilovic earned second-team All-Big 12 honors this past season. He ranked No. 46 in the latest edition of The Athletic’s 2026 NBA Draft top 100 prospects list.
