Dixon announced his commitment to the Cavaliers on Monday, per NBA Draft analyst Jonathan Givony. This marks the end of a three-stint with the UC Irvine Anteaters, having been with the program since 2023. He redshirted his freshman year before earning an active role in the rotation throughout the 2024-25 and 2025-26 campaigns.

“UC Irvine transfer Jurian Dixon has committed to Virginia, Excel Sports told DraftExpress. The 2025 Big West Freshman of the Year was named First Team All-Conference this season after averaging 15.7 points and 2.4 assists in 31 minutes, shooting 38% from three,” Givony wrote.

Dixon’s biggest scoring performance this past season saw him produce 26 points against CSU Bakersfield on Jan. 1. He also managed to score 20 or more points seven times, showcasing his talent as a tenacious scorer in college basketball.

What’s next for Virginia after landing Jurian Dixon

Ryan Odom and Virginia will surely benefit from adding Jurian Dixon to the roster. He provides a solid spark with his scoring capabilities, hoping he can carry that production over from UC Irvine.

Odom has been a head coach since 2014, making stops at Charlotte, Lenior-Rhyne, UMBC, Utah State, and VCU before going to Virginia. He impressed with the Retrievers, Aggies and Rams, leading them to six postseason appearances. His most iconic win stands tall in history after stunning 1-seeded Virginia as UMBC’s coach in 2018.

Odom’s first year with the Cavaliers proved to be a remarkable success. He gifted them a 30-win campaign, leading them to a 30-6 overall record as they went 15-3 in ACC matchups. They got to the second round of the NCAA Tournament after beating Wright State in the Round of 64. However, their March Madness run ended after falling to Tennessee in the Round of 32.
