BYU picks up huge recruiting win with TE commit

Brock Harris is a big-time 2026 recruit from St. George, Utah, and he’s decided to stay within his home state to play college ball.

That’s good news for BYU because it wasn’t the Utah Utes he committed to on Monday. Rather, it was the BYU Cougars who earned Harris’ commitment.

As he tells it, this was a commitment that was a long time in coming. He had gone on visits to BYU many times, and every time he was on campus it just seemed to make sense.

“At different times, I liked different schools, but BYU was always toward the top and it ended up being between them and Michigan when I made my decision,” Harris told Chad Simmons On3. “Every time I would go on a visit, I had a great feeling at BYU. At different places, my feelings would vary, but at BYU, it was always the same.”

For Harris, it’s about comfort. It makes sense, too. Provo, Utah is a three-and-a-half-hour drive from his hometown. Michigan and some of his other top schools, on the other hand, would require quite a bit of travel.

Harris also made strong connections with Kalani Sitake and the Cougars’ staff.

“It just always felt right with the coaches [at] BYU. As much as I went there, it was never awkward or forced, but it was always natural. Being around the staff a lot, getting to know them and the staff staying together meant a lot to me,” he said.

Ultimately, this is a huge commitment for BYU. According to the 247Sports Composite, he’s the No. 5 tight end in the 2026 class and the top recruit from the state.

Georgia, Miami, Oregon and Utah were also in the running for Harris.
