The Colorado Buffaloes have gotten a lot of press lately because of two stars who were considered prime NFL draft prospects: Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders.
Hunter, a hybrid wide receiver/cornerback, was taken with the No. 2 pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars, while Sanders, a highly regarded quarterback, wasn’t taken in the first round and is still available after day two.
Their roster will look considerably different this fall, especially now that cornerback Colton Hood is reportedly entering the transfer portal. He had transferred from Auburn after the 2023 season, which was his freshman campaign, to play for the Buffaloes.

Hood recorded six passes defended, two interceptions, one tackle for loss and 24 total tackles (20 solo) while leading the Big 12 with 105 interception return yards last season. He also took back six kick returns for 119 yards in his spare time.
Colorado has had a slew of players enter the transfer portal recently, including running back Isaiah Augustave, their leading rusher in 2024, who has committed to Virginia.
In his two seasons as its head coach, Deion Sanders, the father of Shedeur Sanders and a former Hall of Fame NFL cornerback, has revitalized what had been a dormant program for many years. It went 9-4 in 2024 and reached the Alamo Bowl, where it lost by 22 points to Brigham Young.
The Buffaloes haven’t won a bowl game since the 2004 season, when they were victorious in the now-defunct Houston Bowl over Texas-El Paso by a final score of 33-28.
