That makes Jae Lamar a massive commitment for the Georgia Bulldogs. The four-star running back from Moultrie, Georgia, announced his commitment to UGA on Wednesday.
Also in the running were Miami, Clemson, Auburn, Florida State and Georgia Tech, but the Bulldogs had everything Lamar was looking for.
“It just feels like home at Georgia,” Lamar told Chad Simmons of On3. “It was a tough decision because so many top schools are pulling at me, and they have great coaches too, but the people at Georgia make it feel like home for me.”
Specifically, Georgia has running backs coach Josh Crawford, who has made a big impression on the in-state product. Crawford is a UGA alumni himself, having earned his master’s degree at Georgia in 2012. He was also one of the better-known high school coaches in the state before making the jump to the college ranks.
“Coach Crawford was one of the very first coaches I talked to and he was always around when he could come down. He is a coach who has always kept his word with me and I trust him, 100%,” Lamar said.
Ultimately, Lamar is one of the best running backs in the 2026 class. According to the 247Sports Composite, he’s the No. 8 running back in the country. He’s clearly looking forward to being at Georgia and playing SEC football, which he thinks highly of.
For good reason, it should be noted.
“I’m thinking about the SEC. They’re one step away from the NFL. They got everything that you can have that you want in that conference, and I want to be a part of that,” he told Benjamin Wolk of 247Sports.
Lamar is the 21st commitment to Kirby Smart’s 2026 class. It’s a group that’s ranked No. 4 in the nation.
