The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are down a commitment on the 2027 recruiting trail.
Khalil Terry, a four-star safety recruit from Tustin, California, had been committed to the Fighting Irish since November of 2025.
Terry had even recently taken an unofficial visit to South Bend for a junior day back in March, but Notre Dame will ultimately not be able to hold on to his commitment.
It was announced that Terry decommitted from Notre Dame on Monday.
According to Eric Thomas of Irish Illustrated, Arizona State, Cal, Oklahoma and UCLA are now in the running for the four-star.
Terry recently took a visit to UCLA and Tustin is only 50 miles south down the 405 from Los Angeles, so perhaps proximity will ultimately play a factor in his recruitment.

There’s also the fact that the Irish already have commitments from two elite defensive backs in four-stars Ace Alston and Xavier Hasan. They’re also considered the favorite to land four-star safety Zayden Gamble from Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Notably, this is not Terry’s first change of heart. He had been committed to Michigan State from December of 2024 to June of 2025.
Terry has notched 179 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, one sack, nine interceptions, 29 passes defended, three forced fumbles and one fumble recovery in three seasons as a high school football player.
He’s ranked as the No. 19 safety in the 2027 class, according to 247Sports.
