Caleb Douglas, the Texas Tech football team’s second-leading receiver last season, was on crutches during Tuesday’s session of spring practice.
Tech coach Joey McGuire said Douglas had a hyperextended knee and bone bruise. No surgery is necessary, so Douglas’ recovery period isn’t expected to be long-term. He got hurt during the Red Raiders’ scrimmage Saturday, when he also scored two touchdowns.
The 6-foot-4, 210-pound senior from Fort Bend Hightower caught 60 passes for 877 yards and six touchdowns last season, his first with the Red Raiders after transferring from Florida.
Texas Tech has nine of its allotted 15 sessions of spring practice remaining. The next workout is Thursday, and the next scrimmage is Saturday. The annual spring game is scheduled for April 19 at Jones AT&T Stadium.
