Clemson wide receiver TJ Moore named a ‘most impactful’ re-signing

Roster movement has taken over college football, but holding onto top talent can be just as important as adding it. That’s where Clemson made one of its biggest wins this offseason.

CBS Sports recently highlighted the most impactful “re-signings” across the country, and for the Tigers, wide receiver T.J. Moore stood out as the program’s top returner heading into 2026. His decision to stay in Clemson came after a period of uncertainty, as he waited to see how the quarterback situation and offensive coordinator hire would shake out.

According to CBS Sports, Moore held off on making his decision until after Chad Morris was brought in to lead the offense. “One of two standout pass-catchers the Tigers could’ve lost this offseason, Moore waited to see Clemson’s plan at quarterback and the program’s OC hire of Chad Morris before announcing his return on Jan. 6,” the outlet wrote.

Moore delivered a strong sophomore season, finishing with 52 catches for 837 yards and four touchdowns while starting every game. He led Clemson in receiving yards and earned third-team All-ACC recognition from Phil Steele.

He’s also been remarkably consistent early in his career. Across two seasons, Moore has totaled 97 receptions for 1,488 yards and nine touchdowns over 27 games. His production puts him in rare company, joining Justyn Ross, Artavis Scott, and Sammy Watkins as the only Clemson players to record at least 650 receiving yards in both their freshman and sophomore seasons.

Bryant Wesco Jr. was also mentioned by CBS Sports as another key returner. He found the end zone six times last season, the most among Clemson receivers, despite dealing with a back injury that cut his sophomore campaign short.

The Tigers’ young receiver duo already made history as freshmen, becoming the first power conference teammates since at least 2000 to each surpass 650 receiving yards and five touchdowns in the same season.

Several players on Clemson’s 2026 schedule also appeared on CBS Sports’ list, including Miami running back Mark Fletcher Jr., Cal quarterback Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele, Florida State defensive linemen Mandrell Desir and Darryll Desir, and South Carolina standouts LaNorris Sellers, Dylan Stewart, and Nyck Harbor.

Clemson is set to host Miami on October 3 and South Carolina on November 28, while road trips to Cal on September 25 and Florida State on October 31 highlight the rest of that group.
