Wisconsin football will be sticking with Hunter Simmons at quarterback for its upcoming matchup against the top-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel. Simmons struggled immensely against the Iowa Hawkeyes’ defense last Saturday, throwing two picks and only completing 38.1% of his passes.
Wisconsin’s offense has struggled throughout the 2025 season, scoring 4.0 points per game in the first half of games. The Badgers have also gained more than 20 yards on a first-half play only four times, explaining that poor point production. The Badgers currently rank as the worst team in the FBS in both of those statistical categories. In addition to Wisconsin’s offensive struggles, Ohio State has boasted one of the nation’s best defenses this year, holding opponents to 6.8 points per game. Those season-long stats and trends imply that Luke Fickell’s team will have its hands tied during Saturday’s game. Simmons’ play will decide whether any of them reverse in Wisconsin’s favor.
