As the University of Miami Athletic Director, Dan Radakovich has stuck through thick and thin. Now, he is closing the curtain.

On Friday, it was announced that Radakovich will end his career really soon, per Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports. The University announced the news to the school board members. Additionally, they are working out a deal for Radakovich to remain as an advisor.

Meanwhile, the search is on for a new Miami AD. There is speculation that Michael Yormark, CEO of ROC Nation Sports International, is on the short list to take over as AD, per Pete Thamel of ESPN. He has connections to South Florida.

Radakovich began his career at Miami in 1983, while a graduate student. He was the Athletic business manager from 1983 to 1985.

Radakovich was the AD at Clemson for nine years from 2012 to 2021.

In December 2021, Radakovich was hired as the AD at Miami. During his tenure, he oversaw an expansion of the athletics program as the landscape of college sports changed due to Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL). In 2021-22, Miami joined North Carolina as the only schools to have their football team play in a bowl game, their basketball team reach the Sweet 16, and their baseball team host a regional.

He hired eight coaches, including signing head men’s basketball coach Jim Larranaga to a contract extension in 2023 after their first Final Four run in its history. That same year, the women’s basketball program reached the Elite Eight for the first time in program history. Cam Ward was Miami’s first Heisman Trophy Finalist in 22 years.

Radkovich’s official retirement announcement is expected to come soon.
