Arch Manning lands in analyst’s top 5 QBs, but he’s not No. 1

All eyes will be on Texas quarterback Arch Manning as he enters his senior year. Many expect him to play even better after having a full year of experience as the main guy under center for the Longhorns.

Manning turned heads last year, throwing for career-highs of 3, 163 yards and 26 touchdowns, taking over from Quinn Ewers. While Manning definitely had his brilliant moments, including displaying his dual-threat ability, there is still much room for improvement, and he would be the first to admit it.

On “See Ball Get Ball,” football analyst David Pollack named his top five quarterbacks in the upcoming season. He had Manning at No. 2.

“Unbelievable arm talent, laser-quick release. We’ve seen the dual-threat. Now, we’re going to see Arch Manning with less pressure than a year ago, with his best supporting cast he’s had, and it ain’t even close —one of the best in the country,” said Pollack.

“His release will stand up with anyone. He can scramble, he can run, he can do designed runs, he’s got plenty of arm talent. To me, it’s really about the experience and having fun, and he already went through all the scrutiny. Now I think he gets to go ball with a fresh set of toys around him.”

Manning carried Texas to a 10-3 record, including 6-2 in the SEC. The Longhorns, however, did not earn a ticket to the CFP. They won the Citrus Bowl against Michigan.

Pollack ranked Ole Miss star Trinidad Chambliss higher than Manning, calling him “an adult” and “a pro,” while having that extra sauce.

“(He has) that extra it factor, that thing that he can do that other people can’t do,” said the former NFL linebacker and two-time SEC Defensive Player of the Year.

Manning and Chambliss are set to duel in October at Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium.
