The No. 1 recruit in Utah’s Class of 2027 just sidelined BYU and Utah for old friend Oklahoma.
Davis High School wideout Bode Sparrow committed to Brent Venables and the Sooners on Friday during a live signing ceremony in Kaysville, Utah. Kalani Sitake and the Cougars offered Sparrow back in 2023, when the young prospect was just 14 years old, according to recruiting timeline at 247Sports.
Sparrow sent his home crowd into an uproar with the decision, which comes just a few weeks after the Utah native named his top four schools: BYU, Oklahoma, Oregon and Utah.
One of Utah’s top returning senior talents, Sparrow is entering his final season on the high school gridiron as a major two-way asset for the Davis Darts in Utah’s Class 6A Region 1.
Offensively, Sparrow logged 83 catches for 1,218 yards and 16 touchdowns as the leading target for Davis alum and incoming Iowa freshman Tradon Bessinger. Defensively, Sparrow finished second in Utah with seven interceptions while tallying 71 tackles (35 solo) and 6.5 tackles-for-loss.
This latest Utah recruiting shakeup comes after a Baylor offensive lineman shared his experience visiting Morgan Scalley and Utah – and the bag sitting on the table.
