Meet The Wife Of Kirk Herbstreit (1:13)

ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit announced some big College GameDay news on Monday.

Herbstreit, who is gearing up for the 2025 football season, will be a busy man this fall. The former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback turned ESPN and Amazon Prime analyst will be covering both college football and the NFL. He’ll be on the road for several days a week.

Starting in 2021, Herbstreit brought his oldest golden retriever, Ben, on the road with him. Ben traveled on the road with Herbstreit for a couple of years, before tragically passing away from cancer in 2024. Peter Herbstreit, the family’s youngest golden retriever, took his place on the road.

But will the dog be back on College GameDay in 2025?

Herbstreit made the announcement on Monday.

The beloved ESPN college football analyst announced on Monday that his dog, Peter, would be traveling with him again during the 2025 season.

“Absolutely,” he announced.

College football fans are excited by the big announcement from the ESPN college football analyst.

“Walking around & finding Lee Corso pre-show one last time will be bitter sweet,” one fan wrote.

“Yea!” one fan added.

“Can’t wait to see posts from you on Saturday,” one fan added.

“Let’s go!”

ESPN’s College GameDay is set to start the 2025 college football season on the road in Columbus, Ohio.

Ohio State is scheduled to take on Texas in the first big game of the season. The Buckeyes and the Longhorns are expected to start the season ranked inside of the top five.

That Saturday, Aug. 30 show will be Lee Corso’s last as a member of the College GameDay crew. The ESPN college football analyst will be retiring following the 2025 college football season opener.

Hopefully, it’ll be a show to remember for everyone involved.
