Deion Sanders, Colorado Band Story Isn’t True (1:28)

Deion Sanders isn’t letting something like a little health setback keep him from fulfilling his responsibilities at Colorado.

While Coach Prime has kept pretty quiet about the struggles he’s faced this offseason, it sounds like the 57-year-old Hall of Famer is ready to return to Boulder to lead the Buffs for a third straight year.

“I’m already back. I’m here today. I’m handling my responsibilities. So I look forward to it. I can’t wait,” Sanders told ESPN’s Pete Thamel. “You’ve got to understand, some of the young men I haven’t even met yet.”

Deion Sanders told ESPN he's set to return from his health issues: "I’m already back. I’m here today. I’m handling my responsibilities. So I look forward to it. I can’t wait. You’ve got to understand, some of the young men I haven’t even met yet."

Coach Prime arrived at Big 12 media day with a message for reporters after laying low for the better part of two months.

“God is good,” Deion said. “I’m not here to talk about my health, I’m here to talk about my team. … We want to win. We want to win at all costs.”

Sanders also talked about an average day on his Texas ranch where he was reportedly recuperating: “Average day, I’m looking good. I’m living lovely. God has truly blessed me. Not a care in the world, not a want or desire in the world.”

Deion has a history of blood clots which led to him having to get two toes amputated on his left foot back in 2022.

Sanders certainly has his work cut out for him as he and the Buffaloes attempt to replace the production left by his son Shedeur and Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter.

Colorado opens the season with an 8 PM ET matchup vs. Georgia Tech on Friday Aug. 29.
