Deion Sanders Has Changed His NFL Draft Plans For Shedeur

Deion Sanders, Colorado Band Story Isn’t True (1:28)

For well over the past year, Deion Sanders has stated multiple times that he’d have a say in where Shedeur ends up in the NFL.

During an appearance on the Tamron Hall Show in January, the Colorado football coach said he wouldn’t let his son compete for a couple of teams in the NFL. However, he refused to name any teams.

“It’s not like who I would like for him to play for. It’s a couple of teams that I won’t allow him to play for,” Sanders said. “So it’s not like that. But this is my profession. I know what’s behind the curtain. We ain’t got to get back there for me to understand what’s behind the curtain and what’s not prominent for my son. I’m not doing it.”

Roughly two months later, Sanders has walked back his previous comments. While discussing the NFL Draft with Skip Bayless, the Hall of Famer made it known that he won’t interfere with things this April.

Apparently, Sanders wants Shedeur to figure things out on the fly regardless of where he gets drafted.

“No, because that’s not God’s will right now,” Sanders said. “I want Shedeur to do what he’s consistently done, excel against all odds. I like the hating, I like the naysaying, I like the ignorance, because it makes us feel better about what we do. It gives him another chip on his shoulder.”

Sanders later mentioned the Cleveland Browns, Las Vegas Raiders, New Orleans Saints, New York Giants and Tennessee Titans as options for Shedeur.

There’s no question that Shedeur will have suitors in the upcoming draft. It’s just too early to tell where he’ll end up.

The NFL Draft will begin on April 24 in Green Bay.
