Nobody has pulled the trigger on any trades in the first-round as the countdown to the 2025 NFL Draft winds down. But a new report has just about everyone convinced that they know where Ole Miss quarterback Jaxson Dart will wind up going.
Ahead of the start of the draft, NFL insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported that the New York Giants are working to acquire a first-round pick at the back portion of the first round of the draft. The New York Giants currently hold the No. 3 overall pick and are considered the favorites to select Penn State pass rusher Abdul Carter.
“The phone lines are getting busier as the first round nears, per sources. The Broncos and Texans are attempting to move up the draft order, while the Giants are trying to acquire a second first-round pick at the back end of the round,” Russini wrote.
If the Giants are trying to add a second first-round pick before the draft even starts, it usually means only one thing: The Giants are angling for a quarterback. Specifically, Jaxson Dart.

Giants fans are already expecting that Dart will be the guy. But most of the ones saying that either have mixed feeling at best or outright despise it at worst:
“If all the rumors are true over the last 25 hours, the Giants want Dart here. If you draft Carter and a team wants Kayvon and a pick swap, does Joe say yes? #NFLDraft,” one Giants fan wrote on X.
“Giants may go for Jaxson Dart,” wrote another.
“The Giants are going to wind up with Abdul Carter and Jaxson Dart and I’m going to throw up over it lol,” a third wrote.
No other quarterback in this year’s draft class has seen his stock rise as much as Dart’s. He’s gone from a bit of an afterthought as a Day 2 or even Day 3 selection to a rumored top-10 pick in some circles.
But it also highlights how far Shedeur Sanders may have fallen out of favor with the Giants if the team is willing to trade up for a quarterback other than him.
At any rate, we’ll find out in a few short hours whether the Giants truly do plan on taking a quarterback in the first-round.
