South Carolina football boosted its offense through future LaNorris Sellers protector Neff Giwa in March. But now the returning quarterback and the Gamecocks lost a future weapon. Wide receiver commit Jaiden Kelly-Murray has reopened his recruitment.
The four-star wide receiver confirmed his decision with Hayes Fawcett of On3/Rivals Monday. His departure becomes a huge College Football Recruiting blow for South Carolina as the Gamecocks and head coach Shane Beamer lose a local talent.
Kelly-Murray stars for Oceanside Collegiate Academy in Mount Pleasant, SC. He’s the state’s No. 6 overall prospect for the 2027 class per 247Sports composite. On3/Rivals lists him as the state’s ninth-best talent.
Kelly-Murray exploded as a recruit during 2025 with Summerville High in South Carolina. The cat-quick wideout snatched 64 receptions for 957 yards and scored 14 touchdowns during his junior campaign.
He delivered dominating production as a sophomore too; catching 81 passes and racking up 1,202 yards with 13 touchdowns. Kelly-Murray even handled 33 carries for 215 yards with four touchdowns rushing.
Wide receivers coach Mike Furrey ran point on Kelly-Murray’s recruitment for the Gamecocks. Furrey previously coached the Chicago Bears WRs from 2018 to 2021 under former head coach Matt Nagy. Allen Robinson emerged as his breakout WR including overseeing his lone 100-catch campaign of 2020 (102 receptions that season with 1,250 yards).
Kelly-Murray originally committed on March 16 of 2026. He turned down nearly 40 different offers for the Gamecocks. Now SC must find a new WR for the offense moving forward after this decommitment. Virginia Tech is trending as the new leader for Kelly-Murray’s services.
Sellers does have an incoming weapon, though, in Holy Cross star Charly Mullaly.
