After his goals against Southampton, Mohamed Salah is clear in third place in Liverpool’s list of all-time top goalscorers., behind only Roger Hunt and Ian Rush.

You may have heard this before, but Mohamed Salah scores lots of goals,

Well, he’s added to his numbers again, and his first against Southampton on Saturday was a significant strike, too.

Salah’s two goals from the spot in the 3-1 win at Anfield on Saturday didn’t just help Liverpool in their quest to win the Premier League, but they put him on 243 goals for Liverpool in all competitions. Those goals take him clear of Gordon Hodgson (241) and into outright third place in the list of the club’s all-time scorers.

Most Goals for Liverpool

Ian Rush – 346

Roger Hunt – 285

Mohamed Salah – 243

Gordon Hodgson – 241

Billy Liddell – 228

Steven Gerrard – 186

Robbie Fowler – 183

Kenny Dalglish – 172

Michael Owen – 158

Harry Chambers – 151

Only Ian Rush (346) and Roger Hunt (285) sit ahead of the Egyptian King, though it should be noted that Rush compiled his goals in 660 appearances, while Hunt’s came in 492 games. Salah has played just 390 games for the club since arriving from Roma in 2017.

He may now have his sights set on catching Hunt, sitting 42 behind the 1966 World Cup winner, before the slightly trickier task of trying to reach Rush’s record, which will take another 103 goals to catch.

That will, of course, require Salah to sign a new contract at Liverpool, with his current deal up at the end of this season.

His 243 goals for the Reds are made up of 182 in the Premier League, 45 in the UEFA Champions League, five in the Europa League, six in the FA Cup, four in the EFL Cup and one in the Community Shield.

The team Salah has found the net against the most in a Liverpool shirt has been Manchester United. His 16 goals against the Merseyside club’s old enemy are three more than he has against anyone else, with 13 put past each of Manchester City, Tottenham and West Ham.

The 32-year-old is on a mission to collect all the records he can this season. He’s now just three goal involvements shy of the Premier League record for a single season, needs four assists to beat Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne’s joint-Premier League record in a campaign and 10 goals to beat Erling Haaland’s record for most in a season in the competition.
