The Oklahoma Sooners had a tremendous weekend in the desert, going 5-0 and scoring 91 runs in the process en route to five run-rule wins and big days from a number of individuals. Despite the undefeated weekend, Oklahoma dropped one spot in the NFCA/GOROUT Coaches Poll.

Tennessee took the top spot in the poll after beating Nebraska (a team with two wins over the No. 1 team in the nation to start the season), and run-rule victories over Florida State and UCLA, a pair of teams that will contend for a spot in Oklahoma City.

The Volunteers jumped both the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Texas Longhorns, and the Florida Gators jumped Oklahoma for the No. 4 spot. Florida went 5-0 last week with wins over Marshall and Georgia Tech.

It seems the Oklahoma Sooners aren’t getting much love despite their week one 3-1 record against Arizona State and Arizona, despite their offensive onslaught in Las Cruces and UTEP. Still, this is a team that will be a national title contender despite where they rank in February.

Along with Tennessee, Texas, Florida, and Oklahoma in the top five, 12 SEC teams ranked in the top 25 in this week’s NFCA/GOROUT Coaches Poll. This week at the Mary Nutter Classic, the Sooners will take on the No. 20 Duke Blue Devils and the Washington Huskies, who are receiving votes. This week will provide a step up

Here’s a look at this week’s poll.
