The Oklahoma State Cowboys are looking to bounce back from one of the worst seasons in recent memory after finishing 3-9 in 2024.
With the 2025 season opener just around the corner, set for Thursday, Aug. 28, against UT Martin in Stillwater, Mike Gundy still hasn’t named a starting quarterback.
Gundy said he does not have any updates on how the quarterbacks will be used in the season opener during a press conference, per Scott Wright.
When asked about what has stood out to him from both competitors, Hauss Hejny and Zane Flores, Gundy said they are both “competitive.”
Flores, a redshirt freshman from Gretna, Nebraska, was one of Oklahoma State’s top signees in the 2023 recruiting class but has yet to take a snap in a game.
Hejny, a sophomore transfer from TCU, appeared in four games last season and showed his dual-threat ability.
He ran for 4.3 yards per carry in limited action, giving OSU a more mobile option under center
When asked what stands out about the pair, Gundy highlighted their approach.
“Both of them are competitive, both of them are learning,” he said. “Both of them are grinders; they’re athletic.”
Oklahoma State will be tested in Week 2, facing off against one of the top teams in the nation, the Oregon Ducks.
