The Oregon Ducks are going to have a devil of a time getting back to the top of the Big Ten in 2025 after the gut-wrenching report about one of their top players.
On Friday, Pete Nakos of On3 Sports reported that Oregon wide receiver Evan Stewart is believed to have torn his patellar tendon. It’s not yet confirmed as tests are “ongoing.” If true though, he faces a recovery ranging from three to 12 months, which threatens his entire 2025 campaign.
“Oregon wide receiver Evan Stewart is believed to have torn his patellar tendon this week, multiple sources tell @On3sports . Further tests are ongoing. The recovery time ranges from 3 to 12 months, depending on the severity of the injury,” Nakos wrote on X.

Oregon fans were heartbroken by the news.
“Hate to see it. Huge loss for Oregon if he misses significant time,” one user remarked.
“Hopefully it’s not that severe and he’s running full speed before 2026. That’s a horrible injury man,” wrote another.
“Massive blow for Oregon. This sucks,” a third wrote.
“Huge blow for Oregon. Hopefully it’s on the shorter end of the timeframe.”
“Just terrible. Prayers for a full recovery.”
“This sucks. Evan is a good kid and was going to be one of the better receivers in this class.”
“Don’t rush back take the redshirt… you get one opportunity to impress scouts… Half healthy ain’t the way,” a user advised.
Stewart is the Ducks’ highest-performing receiver from last season that’s still on the roster now that Tez Johnson and Traeshon Holden are in the NFL.
In 2024 he had 48 receptions for 613 yards and five touchdowns, all top-three on the team. He had the biggest performance of his career in Oregon’s thrilling win over Ohio State in the 2024 regular season, logging seven receptions for a career-high 149 yards and a touchdown in the 32-31 win.
Unfortunately, injuries kept him from playing against Ohio State in the College Football Playoff rematch. The Buckeyes would go on to crush the Ducks, 41-21, en route to winning the tournament and the national title.
