LSU football quarterback Garrett Nussmeier had his best outing of the season in Week 4 vs. SE Louisiana. Sure, the opponent was a step down from what LSU saw the first few weeks of the season, but Nussmeier looked comfortable. The veteran QB was accurate and on the same page as his wide receivers.
Now, Nussmeier and the LSU offense are set for a Week 5 date vs. Ole Miss. It’s a big one. The winner gets to add a signature win to the resume and plays with a margin for error the rest of the year. The loser isn’t out of the race, but will face pressure down the stretch.
LSU needs Nussmeier at his best. The Ole Miss offense is one of the best in the sport, and when these teams get together, there’s a chance it becomes a shootout. LSU might need to play keep up.
We don’t exactly know what the Ole Miss defense is yet. The Rebels looked out of sorts vs. Arkansas but responded with a dominant performance vs. Tulane in Week 4. If Nuss and LSU are on, the Tigers should be able to put up points. Here’s a prediction for Nussmeier’s stat line vs. Ole Miss.
Garrett Nussmeier vs. Ole Miss stat prediction
I have high expectations for Nussmeier in this one. He’s finally healthy after nursing a torso injury over the first month of the season. Ole Miss’s defense has talent, but it’s not as good as last year’s squad. Nussmeier has a big day and leads LSU to its second SEC win of the year.
