Southeast Rumor Mill: Top prospects finalizing visit plans

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Under Armour Next Camp Series was in Nashville over the weekend and Rivals national data analyst Austin Cochran was there to catch up with some of the Southeasts top prospects.

The number one slot receiver in the country has been committed to Tennessee since October, and that won’t change anytime soon for the homegrown talent. Tyreek is still locked in with the Vols but Michigan has been making a very strong push lately.

So far, King only has one official scheduled for this summer and it’s to Tennessee in June.

After an All-American Sophomore season, and decommitment from Alabama, the four-star has had a busy year so far. Tennessee has been making a strong push, bringing him on campus twice so far this year, as well as LSU which he visited recently as well.

Auburn, Vanderbilt, Georgia and Clemson round out the top programs showing the elite 2027 prospect the most love.

Matthews says all the right things about his commitment to Alabama said but isn’t quite ready to completely close his recruitment. He has official visits set up with Auburn, Alabama and Penn State. Matthews grew up a Tigers fan, which makes for an interesting wrinkle in his recruitment.

Gaad has been committed to SMU since February and there’s no indication that will be changing. His recruitment is shut down and he is all in on the Mustangs. The three-star prospect will be taking another trip to the Hilltop soon, and has an official visit scheduled in May as well.

One of the top prospects in the state of Tennessee, Wyatt will be announcing his top schools soon. The four-star prospect recently visited both Vanderbilt and LSU, and Tennessee is very high on his list as well.

The top running back in the 2027 Rivals250, Robinson has had a very busy spring so far. He has already visited Tennessee and Alabama, and trips to Florida State, Texas A&M, Arkansas and Clemson are possible as well. Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi State currently stand out the most to Robinson.

Thompkins loved the atmosphere at Purdue and how much Barry Odom and the coaching staff made it feel like home. Louisville is still very much in the mix as well and the Boilermakers and Cardinals make up the top of the three-star’s list. Mississippi State and Memphis are also involved.

Babalola has visited Boston College, NC State and Wake Forest so far this year and is close to narrowing down his list of schools. Those three programs, along with UCF, Georgia Tech and Tulane, round out his current top six.

Vanderbilt is in a good position with the three-star hometown product but the Commodores aren’t the only programs after him. Harris has official visits set up with Notre Dame, Auburn, Georgia and Alabama. He hopes to announce his decision on July 4.
