The TCU Horned Frogs woman’s basketball team saw their dreams of reaching the Final Four end in the Elite Eight for the second straight year.

On Monday, the No. 3 seeded Horned Frogs (32-6) fell to No. 1 seeded South Carolina (35-3), 78-52, in Sacramento Regional Four. The Gamecocks secured their sixth straight trip to the Fina Four. They will join Texas, UConn and UCLA in a Final Four populated with No. 1 seed.

TCU, led by Olivia Miles and Marta Suarez, remained in the game for the first three quarters. But South Carolina started the fourth quarter with a 12-0 run and outscored TCU, 29-11, in the fourth quarter to secure the win. Miles left the game late in the third injury with what looked like a calf injury that required treatment a couple of different times during the game.

Miles led TCU with 18 points, three rebounds and six assists. Taylor Bigby added 10 points. The Gamecocks kept a close eye on Suarez, who blew up for 33 points in the Sweet 16. She only had nine points against South Carolina, along with five rebounds and two steals. Suarez also suffered an ankle injury in the first half, but it was minor enough to play for 33 minutes.

South Carolina’s Joyce Edwards led all scorers with 24 points, and she also grabbed 12 rebounds. Tessa Johnson had 11 points, and Raven Johnson had 10 points. Agot Makeer came off the bench to score 18 points.

The Horned Frogs made program history last year by reaching the Elite Eight for the first time, led by guard and Big 12 player of the Hailey Van Lith. TCU’s return engagement was led by Miles, who claimed the same award that Van Lith did last season.

Third-year coach Mark Campbell has put together an unprecedented run since taking over the Horned Frogs in 2023. In three seasons TCU is 87-22 with three straight postseason appearances. The Horned Frogs have won the last two Big 12 regular season titles and the 2025 Big 12 Tournament championship. The Horned Frogs failed to repeat, losing to West Virginia in the championship game.
