The Georgia Bulldogs were predicted to land a 5-star offensive weapon with unreal mismatch upside against an elite offer list

Head coach Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs are predicted to land an elite five-star tight end out of the Southeast. It would be a massive 2027 addition.

The Georgia Bulldogs have had quite the stretch recruiting and developing the tight end position in recent memory. All-American Brock Bowers set the standard, and players like Oscar Delp and Lawson Luckie have attempted to continue that momentum. Based on the recruiting, there is going to be loads of talent to work with for the foreseeable future.

With talented 2027 five-star Denver (N.C.) East Lincoln tight end Jaxon Dollar set to make his commitment on Thursday, the Bulldogs are fighting with Notre Dame for the dynamic pass catcher. With only a day remaining until the decision is public, it appears that Georgia is separating itself late. Steve Wiltfong from Rivals logged an expert prediction for the North Carolina star to land with the Bulldogs.

If Georgia can land Dollar, it would be a tremendous addition to its 2027 recruiting class. Notre Dame was also considered to be the leader for a large portion of this recruitment, and any time you beat head coach Marcus Freeman and Co. for a talented tight end, it is a notable feat.

Jaxon Dollar’s recruiting background

Dollar is considered to be a top-100 overall player by multiple of the major recruiting platforms. On the 247 Sports Composite ranking, Dollar currently ranks as a five-star, the No. 33 overall player, the No. 2 tight end, and the No. 2 player from the state of North Carolina for the 2027 recruiting class. That is a state that is more and more regularly putting out high-level talent, and teams like Georgia have been taking notice.

If Georgia can close on Dollar, they would be doing so against an extremely impressive offer list. Some of the top programs that have offered Dollar include the Bulldogs, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Alabama, Texas, Michigan, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Penn State, Florida, Florida State, Texas A&M, Miami, Auburn, Clemson, South Carolina, Missouri, NC State, UNC, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Louisville, Arkansas, Boston College, Cincinnati, and Purdue, among others.

As a junior, Dollar was a dynamic pass game weapon for East Lincoln. The 6-5, 222-pound managed to haul in 54 receptions for 1,190 yards and 20 touchdowns in 12 games. That is an average of 22 yards per reception, an absurd number for a tight end at his size. On top of completing a 63-yard pass, Dollar has also recorded 38 total tackles, 13 tackles for loss, five sacks, four pass breakups, two forced fumbles, and a blocked kick on defense.
