We are a long way from the 2027 NFL Draft; however, ESPN’s Matt Miller and Jordan Reid have recently ranked the early Top 5 quarterbacks in the 2027 class, as well as other positions. For this article, we take a look at the QBs.

Miller’s Top 5

1. Arch Manning, Texas2. Dante Moore, Oregon3. Drew Mestemaker, Oklahoma State4. CJ Carr, Notre Dame5. Darian Mensah, Miami

Reid’s Top 5

1. Arch Manning, Texas2. Dante Moore, Oregon3. Darian Mensah, Miami4. CJ Carr, Notre Dame5. Drew Mestemaker, Oklahoma State

Toughest player to rank: “Mestemaker. The third-year sophomore followed head coach Eric Morris from North Texas to Oklahoma State after throwing for an FBS-leading 4,379 passing yards with 34 touchdowns (tied for second in the FBS) to only nine interceptions as a first-year starter in 2025. The 6-foot-4, 211-pounder has the tools, but can he thrive against a higher level of competition? Of all the quarterbacks in this class, Mestemaker has the talent to be a Fernando Mendoza-like riser.” — Matt Miller

It seems clear that these two insiders believe that those are the Top 5 QBs in the 2027 NFL Draft, just in a slightly different order. The only difference is between the two transfers who will have a chance to become Heisman-caliber players. There is no doubt that Manning and Moore have the biggest hype as of right now, but that doesn’t mean they will come draft night.

Mestemaker transferred away from one of the best offenses in the country in 2025 (North Texas) to an Oklahoma State team with his head coach, Eric Morris. Morris was hired after three seasons coaching the Mean Green. Miller believes he will be the third-best QB heading into the draft, as Reid thinks he will be fifth.

Mensah is now with Miami after a one-season stint at Duke and one at Tulane before that. He takes the reins as the new quarterback after Carson Beck led the Hurricanes to a National Championship appearance.
