Michigan football aims to continue some College Football Recruiting dominance while transitioning to new coach Kyle Whittingham. The Wolverines are already appealing to prized five-star Joshua Dobson. Now Michigan just defeated Notre Dame and other powers for four-star wide receiver Quentin Burrell.
The 6-foot-3 talent from Mount Carmel of Chicago confirmed his decision to Hayes Fawcett of On3/Rivals on Wednesday. Even saying “it’s great to be a Michigan Wolverine” in his message.
Notre Dame is one of two notable powers Burrell turns down for Michigan. Arizona State out of the Big 12 and Southeastern Conference representative Missouri were in the final running too.
Michigan wins over the Chicago talent, though. Whittingham and his staff also win over the state of Illinois’ No. 7 overall talent per On3/Rivals.
So what sold Burrell on the Wolverines? He pulled back the curtain on what led to his decision while speaking with Ethan McDowell of On3/Rivals.
“Honestly, I felt more of a culture change, a little bit more disciplined, very close-knit,” Burrell told McDowell.
He even has a family connection at Ann Arbor as older sister Kali played soccer for the Wolverines and graduated from the university.
Michigan wide receivers coach Micah Simon and offensive coordinator Jason Beck helped seal Burrell’s decision by visiting him one week ago. Now he’s the Wolverines’ first wide receiver commit for the 2027 wide receiver.
He’ll earn the chance to play with dual-threat and past five-star quarterback Bryce Underwood in choosing the Big Ten power. Burrell rises as the second four-star to choose the Wolverines this month, with offensive tackle Jakari Lipsey committing on May 2.
