Insider Says RB Prospect Continues To ‘Skyrocket’ Up Draft Boards

The upcoming NFL Draft is an intriguing one for a number of reasons, and one aspect of the class that jumps out is the depth at the running back position.

Many teams and fans don’t love the idea of selecting a running back near the top of the first round given the short shelf life of even the best players at the position.

It’s possible that some teams are now rethinking their approaches at the position, as one player is now continuing to skyrocket up the draft boards and could find his name being called much earlier than expected in this month’s draft.

Bleacher Report’s Jordan Schultz recently tweeted about North Carolina RB Omarion Hampton, who he says “continues to skyrocket” up the board.

“North Carolina RB Omarion Hampton continues to skyrocket up draft boards. One executive I spoke with compared him and Ashton Jeanty to the Bijan Robinson-Jahmyr Gibbs class, saying both will go “very early.” Hampton — who’s being lauded for his combination of vision, balance and toughness — visited the #Cowboys on Friday. He also has several other visits lined up, following a series of private workouts already completed.”

Hampton ran for 3,164 yards and 30 touchdowns over the past two years at UNC while also showing plenty of prowess as a pass-catching threat, and he is emerging as the clear RB2 in this class outside of Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty.

He is being mocked as high as the Dallas Cowboys with the No. 12 overall pick by some outlets, and after reportedly visiting with the team, it sounds like these mocks might have some validity to them.

There are only a few weeks left to analyze all these prospects, but by all accounts, Hampton is going to make some fanbase very happy in the top 20 picks of the draft.
