Without a doubt, the top two quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft are Cam Ward from the University of Miami and Shedeur Sanders from the University of Colorado.
The question is where they will be taken in the draft, especially because there could be some surprise picks early on and possibly even a big trade or two.
In one recent mock draft, one team was forecast to trade up in order to take Sanders.
“The most notable move in our first beat writer mock draft? The [Las Vegas] Raiders trading up to select Shedeur Sanders,” The Athletic wrote on X.

The prediction is that the Raiders will move up from No. 6 to No. 4 in a deal with the New England Patriots.
The tell here could be connections Sanders has established with two members of the Raiders’ ownership group.
“Sanders has a strong relationship (and had an NIL deal in college) with minority owner Tom Brady, has already met owner Mark Davis and should be comfortable in offensive coordinator Chip Kelly’s system, which blends NFL and college concepts,” the item said.
The Raiders have been considered a laughingstock for the last 20 years or so. During that time, they have made the playoffs once, and they’re coming off a 4-13 finish this season, which was their worst record since 2014.
Sanders threw for 4,134 yards and 37 touchdowns while completing 74.0 percent of his pass attempts during the 2024 season.
Las Vegas badly needs a quarterback, and not only could Sanders fit the bill, but he could bring the type of sizzle and intrigue the Raiders have historically loved to create.
