OWINGS MILLS, Md. — The Baltimore Ravens are bringing back quarterback Tyler Huntley to back up his close friend Lamar Jackson.

Huntley agreed to a two-year deal worth up to $11 million, sources told ESPN’s Adam Schefter on Saturday.

He began last season as the Ravens’ No. 3 quarterback but moved up to be the primary backup in October after Cooper Rush struggled in two starts.

Huntley, 28, got his career back on track in his third stint with the Ravens. Last season, he was 2-0 filling in for Jackson, leading Baltimore to wins over two playoff teams in the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers.

The Ravens had signed Rush to be Jackson’s primary backup last offseason and added Huntley to the practice squad after he was cut by the Cleveland Browns in late August. After Rush was benched, Huntley provided a spark with his dual-threat playmaking ability.

In October, Huntley guided Baltimore to a 30-16 win over the Bears by throwing for 186 yards and running for 53 yards. Then, in a must-win game in Green Bay in late December, Huntley helped the Ravens to a 41-24 victory at Lambeau Field by passing for 107 yards and one touchdown and rushing for 60 yards.

After going undrafted in 2020, Huntley became Jackson’s top backup for three seasons (2021-23). In 2024, he signed with the Browns in free agency but rejoined the Ravens’ practice squad after Cleveland released him before the start of the regular season. Huntley spent two weeks on Baltimore’s practice squad before signing with Miami, where he was 2-3 as a starter last season.

In six seasons, Huntley is 7-9 as a starting quarterback, throwing for 3,212 yards and rushing for 795 yards. He has recorded 13 touchdown passes and 10 interceptions for a total QBR of 50.2 for the Ravens and Dolphins.
