The Los Angeles Kings could look at bringing Scott Laughton back after the season

Dennis Bernstein: Los Angeles Kings GM Ken Holland said back at the trade deadline that he’d wait until after the season to decide whether to look at extending forward Scott Laughton or not. Laughton will be 32-years-old when next season starts. If his play keeps up, and he’s looking for a reasonable amount and term, he could be brought back.

The Philadelphia Flyers have two pending RFAs in Trevor Zegras and Jamie Drysdale to deal with this offseason

Anthony Di Marco of Daily Faceoff: 25-year-old pending RFA Trevor Zegras has two years of restricted free agency before becoming UFA eligible. Sources say the Philadelphia Flyers believe his two remaining RFA years should be around his $5.75 million AAV. Buy UFA years will cost more. As a UFA, he could be in the $9 to $9.5 million range.

NHL Rumors: What Teams Will Make Coaching and GM Changes This Summer?

If looking at a six year deal, somewhere in the $7.5 million to $8.5 million would make sense. Zegras could look for a shorter deal in hopes of cashing in big in a few years as the salary cap continues to rise.

The Flyers also have another pending RFA who wil be looking for a raise – defenseman Jamie Drysdale. The soon to be 24-year-old is carrying a $2.3 million cap hit. The Flyers view him as their No. 4 Dman behind Travis Sanheim, Cam York and Rasmus Ristolainen.

Sources say Drysdale’s RFA years could be between $3 and $4 million, and that the Flyers would like to keep his number below York’s $5.15 million cap hit. A five-year deal at $5 million per, or a four-year deal around $4.5 million per, would make sense.

The Pittsburgh Penguins don’t plan on moving Erik Karlsson

TSN: Pittsburgh Penguins GM Kyle Dubas hasn’t been happy with Pierre LeBrun for putting out there that defenseman Erik Karlsson could be a trade chip for the Pittsburgh Penguins this offseason. LeBrun said he included him in the potential offseason trade candidates article was because after his $6 million bonus is paid out on July 1st, he’ll only cost $1.5 million in salary.

NHL Rumors: Chasing College Free Agent TJ Hughes

“So, these teams are telling me, yeah, well, we would have interest in him. Here’s the thing: for the same reason they would have interest, it’s the same reason why Kyle Dubas says he wants to keep him, because he wants to continue to bring young players around his veteran core. He believes Erik Karlsson can still be a big part of that moving past this year, so he does not intend to move him.”
