New Jersey Devils Arseny Gritsyuk is looking for a multi-year deal
James Nichols of NJ Hockey Now: Forward Arseny Gritsyuk is looking for a multi-year deal from the New Jersey Devils, according to a source. He is looking for something longer than two years. Talks have been ongoing and are progressing. The 25-year-old put up 31 points in his rookie season. His season was cut short by an upper-body injury that required surgery.
NHL Rumour Report: Chris Johnston on the Athletic Hockey Show on Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson: “I have no doubt that he’s tradeable, and likely at full bore, now the thing is if you’re taking on that full contract, I don’t think the Canucks can expect to get much back in return.”
NHL Rumors: Canadiens, Rangers, Kings, and Maple Leafs
The Detroit Red Wings had work to do before the Dylan Larkin trade request. Their offseason didn’t get any easier
Max Bultman of The Athletic: So Dylan Larkin has asked for a trade after 11 seasons with the Detroit Red Wings, and has not made the playoffs since 2016. He’s had a bit of a rocky relationship with management over the past couple of seasons.
The Red Wings had entered the offseason needing a top-six forward and needing to re-work with the bottom six. Trading your No. 1 center will definitely alter the lineup and throw a wrench into their organizational plans to get into the playoffs next season.
Free agency isn’t really going to help the Wings. If they were able to enter the Jason Robertson trade conversation, they’d still need to find a centerman for him to play with. Marco Kasper and Nate Danielson are not top centers yet.
The Wings could look to acquire a center like Robert Thomas, but that would basically put them in the same spot they are currently in, and with the same holes to fill. It is a direction they could attempt as they’ll look to retool.
NHL Rumors: A Change of Scenary, and Some Dylan Larkin Musings
With their prospect pool, they could look to acquire a younger center with top-line potential. They are a good enough team that they won’t be bottoming out. Larkin has trade protection, so he’ll have some say in where he’ll end up, which will likely limit the return a bit.
